The Manufacturing Engineer
Pity the manufacturing engineer in today's electronics company. The design department sends over some Gerber files and perhaps a CSV file and says "ok manufacturing data all sent". But the manufacturer knows thats not the end of the story - its barely the beginning. The data must be evaluated, prepared and converted. Then all the machines need to be programmed. Lots of bottlenecks await - rotations not matching, panels need to be created, stencil rules applied, etc. And at the end of all a document showing all steps with color codes and legends must be created, often manually in Word.
And all this, while the Production Planners yell "you got the data on Monday, its already Tuesday, why can't we start production".
